This Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course provides the skills and knowledge to perform immediate lifesaving interventions to care for critical patients who access the emergency medical services system in the out-of-hospital setting. EMRs have the knowledge and skills within the scope of practice, necessary to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resources to arrive. EMRs also provide assistance to higher-level personnel at the scene of emergencies and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response. Under medical oversight, Emergency Medical Responders perform basic interventions with minimal equipment.
This Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course has been approved for 60 Contact Hours (60 CEUs) of BLS/ALS Instructor-based Continuing Education by CE provider 56-0013.
The objective of this Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course is designed to provide non-EMS responders more depth and exposure to standard first aid training topics to provide richer and more advanced training. Through a combination of knowledge and skill development, participants will build confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise. This course can also enhance the knowledge and better prepare the first responder and those seeking emergency medical placements in the field. Skills practice and education in this course prepares students for the Emergency Medical Responder Certification Exam to obtain National Certification. Students successfully completing this course, will be able to take the National Registry Emergency Medical Responder Certification Exam to obtain National Certification.
This course can be taken as a stand-alone course or as a fantastic prep for Emergency Medical Technician training.
