As of June 15, 2021, California has removed the Blueprint and has mostly reopened the State. To this end, all of our classrooms will resume normal operations and student enrollment. We will continue to frequently wipe down our facilities to maintain cleanliness. The wearing of masks is optional for students. We are available for onsite as well as traveling course training.
Any student showing signs of illness should NOT attend our training.

This Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Initial
(Instructor-led or Blended Online Plus Skills)
course goal is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously full or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. Throughout the course, students are presented with 12 in hospital pediatric patient cases and a team dynamics lesson. PALS is based on simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students will practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as team leader. Students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%. To enter the course, students must complete the ACLS Pre-course Self-Assessment.

PALS is geared towards healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies or personnel in emergency response. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course.

Who Should Take PALS Training?

PALS should be taken by healthcare professionals who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units.

After successfully completing the BLS Provider CPR course, students should be able to:

  • High-quality Child CPR AED and Infant CPR;
  • Recognition of patients who do and do not require immediate intervention;
  • Recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest early and application of CPR within 10 seconds;
  • Apply team dynamics;
  • Differentiation between respiratory distress and failure;
  • Early interventions for respiratory distress and failure;
  • Differentiation between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock;
  • Early interventions for the treatment of shock;
  • Differentiation between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias;
  • Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias; and
  • Post–cardiac arrest management;

Class size is limited to 6 students which allows the class to be taught in one-day.

Online/Hands-On Skills Option - $235.00

4-Hour Hands-On Skills Session for Either Initial or Renewal

Blended Learning (online portion, followed by hands-on skills session) HeartCode PALS uses a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, team dynamics training, megacode cases, and interactive activities to teach students PALS knowledge and skills. HeartCode PALS is the AHA’s PALS blended learning delivery method. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on skills session.

Students must complete the online portion prior to attending a hands-on skills session. The online portion of HeartCode PALS can be completed in 6 to 9 hours. The 4 Hour hands-on skills session is limited to a maximum of 6 students per class.

After enrollment and payment, students will be emailed a key-code (within 24 hours) and link that allows them access to their online course to be taken at the AHA website. Students must complete their skills session within 60 days of completing the online portion.
