This AHA BLS and Heartsaver Instructor Course includes instruction, practice, and an exam, allowing instructor candidates to successfully use their instructor materials and skills to teach BLS Healthcare Provider, Heartsaver CPR/AED, Heartsaver First Aid, and Friends & Family courses.

Our staff will prepare instructor candidates to become AHA instructors by focusing on the in-depth material about the Heartsaver and BLS disciplines.

Who Should Take This Training?

Those who wish to conduct BLS Healthcare Provider, Heartsaver CPR/AED, Heartsaver First Aid, and Friends & Family courses.

Course Prerequisite: Current Heartsaver First Aid and CPR Provider Card.

Completion Card

Upon completion of this course, students receive a downloadable Safety Unlimited Course Completion Certificate (PDF format), as well as an American Heart Association AHA BLS Provider Course Completion eCard via email that is valid for two years.

After enrollment and payment, students will be emailed a key-code and link that allows them access to their online course to be taken at the AHA website.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

After successfully completing the BLS Provider Instructor course, students should be able to:

  • Delivering standardized curricula;
  • Working closely with students;
  • Providing coaching and feedback;
  • Validating skills practice sessions; and
  • Testing students and providing remediation .
BLS – Instructor-Led Training Features:

  • Emphasis on high-quality CPR including a team dynamics classroom activity; and

HeartCode® BLS Features:

  • Updated science and education reflecting the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC;
  • Includes in-facility and prehospital tracks (student chooses his/her track before starting the HeartCode® BLS Online Portion);
  • Enhanced learning experience through eSimulations, life-like animations, video scenarios, and knowledge checks; and
  • Available for students with hearing, vision, and/or motor impairments (accessible on OnlineAHA.org only).

What are Heartsaver® Courses?

Heartsaver® courses are courses that target Non-Healthcare Professionals. These courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, or other requirements. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. For many Heartsaver® courses, students receive a course completion card that is valid for 2 years.
